Meeting of the Energy Committee | Carbon Capture and Storage in Brazil: exploring local projects and solutions with Isabela Morbach (CCS Brasil)

Rio de Janeiro, 26 May 2023
Power & Renewables

The fight against global warming was discussed by members of the British Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Brazil (Britcham) at an Energy Committee event. Projects and solutions for the control of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions centralised the dialogue that was attended by Isabela Morbach, co-founder and director of CCS Brazil. The executive detailed data from the institution's first annual report and showed that the country has a business opportunity in the fight against the damage caused by CO2 to nature. The storage of this gas has revenue potential between 14 and 20 billion dollars per year, said Isabela Morbach in presenting the study. And the mission to reach this value goes through three processes: to capture, transport and store CO2 below the surface. The Energy Committee event took place simultaneously at TozziniFreire Advogados' office in São Paulo and at Shell's Rio de Janeiro office, and remotely, with the mediation of the president, Leonardo Miranda, and the vice president, Monique Gonçalves.
